Construction Laborer Job Description
We are a busy construction firm and are always hiring dedicated construction laborers to join our team. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining various tools, load and unload frequently heavy materials, and follow directions from supervisors and other skilled tradesmen. To do well in this role you should be physically fit, reliable, and be a hard worker.
Construction Laborer Responsibilities
- Follow all directions of the construction manager, and work with other team members to complete construction projects accurately
- Operate power tools, hand tools, and heavy equipment such as jackhammers as required
- Be punctual, ready to work at start time
- Load, unload, and transfer tools and building materials such as lumber, tile, saws, sheetrock, grout, etc.
- Assist sub-contractors, tradesmen, and craft workers like roofers, plasterers, carpenters, painters, and electricians as needed
- Remove debris and hazardous materials to keep the job site safe and clean to meet safety regulations
- Ready to learn on-the-job training when necessary
- Perform site clean up
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary
Construction Laborer Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required - associate degree, trade certification, and/or completed apprenticeship program is highly preferred
- Previous construction experience, knowledge of construction methods, and an understanding of blueprints and construction plans is required
- Possess own pouch, hand tools (Hand Tools-Hammer, Tape Measure, Utility knife, Snips, Speed Square)
- Pass a criminal and motor vehicle background test
- Possess a valid driver license
- Have reliable transportation
- Physical stamina and physical strength are needed
- Able to work in inclement weather like extreme temperatures, rain, etc.
- Strong depth perception, good eye-hand coordination, and mechanical skills are helpful
Rate of Pay - $14hr – 18hr based on experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
